Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Data Manager provides support to a multidisciplinary team in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health and the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research for large comparative effectiveness research program in the sickle cell program. Responsible for database management- quality control, data merging, data cleaning. Responsible for design of analytic methods, in conjunction with the PI and lead investigators, and for execution of data analyses of a large cohort of over 10,000 patients. Routine analytic techniques include: power/sample size calculations, regression methods, and development and testing of predictive models (e.g. Bayesian analyses, ROC, LRT, etc.) Attends and participates in team meetings, in-services and external trainings, workshops, conferences, and other relevant programs for growth and development. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team including the Principal Investigator, other lead investigators and other staff members. Strong organizational skills. A high degree of self motivation and the ability to function independently.

Research Data Manager will need to travel to multiple sites for participating in and overseeing recruitment activities and therefore will need independent transportation.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required. Experience with statistical analysis programs, preferably Stata or SAS, is preferred. Three years related experience required. Additional graduate level education may substitute for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and word processing skills. Proficiency in the use of common software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing required. Excellent organizational skills required. Excellent attention to detail skills required. Must have ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. Must have excellent time management skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently. The successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision, and be comfortable being part of a diverse professional team.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
