GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for installation and maintenance of network sytems, security systems, servers, computers, printers, telephone systems and software applications throughout the City SUPERVISION EXERCISED Essential Duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Troubleshoots operations of wide area network (WAN) and Local area networks (LAN), to include installation and maintenance of current versions of Windows server, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and other emerging technologies. Installs, troubleshoots, upgrades and repairs all networked computers and peripherals. Installs, upgrades, repairs and maintains servers, computers, printers, phones, video surveillance and access control equipment, and network equipment including switches and routers. Installs, troubleshoots, upgrades and repairs VoIP and PBX phone systems. Installs, troubleshoots, upgrades, repairs, and maintains enterprise video surveillance system Installs, troubleshoots, upgrades, repairs, , maintains, and operates an Access Control System to include Microsoft SQL Server, proximity card readers, and DDCs (dual door controllers) for all employees, tenants and vendors Researches products and solutions, initiates and tracks equipment purchases, for department technology needs. Maintains close working relationship with all City staff, tenants and contract employees Maintains a pro-active stance on computer and telephone maintenance, spotting and correcting minor problems before they become major problems. Responds to user inquiries in person and via telephone, establishes service levels and adjusts workflow to ensure work orders are closed. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serves on various employee committees. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: A) Two year college degree or equivalent semester hours in a computer related field; or B) Four (4) years experience with the operation of LAN’s, WAN’s, network and operations to include the installation and maintenance of current versions of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office and emerging technologies. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A) Working knowledge of LAN’s, WAN’s, and networked computer systems. B) Working knowledge of operating systems commands for various computer systems. C) Working knowledge of PBX and VoIP telephony equipment. D) Skill in installation, upgrading, repairing, and troubleshooting of computer/phone systems and related equipment. E) Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. F) Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals. G) Ability to establish good working relationships. H) Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Supplemental Information: SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid Texas driver’s license by date of hire. Must have the ability to work flexible hours as required. Including some nights and weekends as necessary. May be required to successfully pass a polygraph examination administered by the City of Killeen Police Department. May be required to pass an access security clearance check before unrestricted access to airport secure areas can be approved. |
