Overview of Job Function:
The Master Data Management Technical Leader will be responsible for working closely with Aon’s Business/IT Data Governance group to lead the data architecture and systems used to facilitate global master data management for the global enterprise.

The MDM Technical Leader will have a deep understanding of master data processes & tools, data modeling & data integration, preferably in the Insurance industry.

MDM Technical Leader will be responsible for applying MDM strategies, requirements and policies aligned to the company’s vision, and supporting an MDM implementation on Aon’s technology platform.

The MDM Technical Leader will supervise translating master data requirements into technical specifications, designing and overseeing the delivery of functional & technical components for master data solutions.

The MDM Technical Leader will work with business representatives to understand needs and will collaborate in generating the best solution to solve business needs. This individual is expected to recommend and implement appropriate technical approaches for data management and integration solutions.

Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:

– Lead all Master data related programs and projects, partnering closely with Business Data/BI Governance group, ensuring adherence to SDLC and Agile Development methodologies.

– Define measurable metrics and the minimal required attributes for each domain or entity to support a robust and successful deployment of an MDM platform.

– Provide subject matter expertise on data architecture and data integration implementations.

– Understand and leverage enterprise architecture principles for cross-functional purposes.

– Participate in roadmap planning, recommending technologies and solutions.

– Identify and propose new opportunities for data integration and possible SOA implementation.

– Be the Primary point of engagement with IT on all aspects of master data, working closely with Business Data/BI Governance groups and Data Stewards.

– Be the Primary point of engagement with the Business Data/BI Governance teams to ensure Data Quality in the hubs and other core systems. Establish and track metrics on Core Data Quality.

– Manage the integrations of these hubs to all other systems so as to drive the use of a single source.

– Facilitate workshops between the diverse IT and Business organizations to define, design and implement “Golden Record” for Client and Carrier Data.

– Facilitate workshops between the diverse IT and Business organizations to define, design and implement “Client/Carrier Creation” workflows and processes.

– Work closely with Global Architecture and application development groups on Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) initiatives as they relate to master data

– Provide IT with substantial support for the development of change requests and additional capabilities within MDM.

– Work closely with the BI and Advanced Analytics functions to ensure Master Data synchronization with Data Warehouse(s) and to monitor use of data in enterprise reports.

– Work closely with the functional owners of the primary Data systems as well as with other legacy policy management systems.

– Research and document current client; carrier; product and Industry data definitions, processes and ownership globally, across all business functions.

– Design, development, documentation and deployment of consistent global, company-wide data definitions, processes and ownership guidelines for client; carrier ; product and Industry data elements.

– Support global data governance model that will establish and document data creation, update guidelines and decision rights. Within the governance model, be a data steward combining the knowledge of existing source data with the ability to determine how to transform the source information into the defined master data standard format.

– Plan and execute data cleanup effort required for all master data elements to comply with global, company-wide master data management definition, process and ownership guidelines.

– Lead the efforts to increase the maturity of data management within the organization.

Desired Skills & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

- 12+ years of IT experience with hands-on knowledge and implementation of one or more MDM industry products, such as, Siperian / Informatica / IBM, etc.

– Demonstrated past experience in designing, developing and maintaining “Golden Records” in a large organization (large federated data sources).

– Demonstrated past experience in designing, developing and maintaining “Client Creation” processes and workflows in a large global federated environment.

– Demonstrated experience in transitioning from a state of Passive Governance to Active Governance.

– 4 years of management experience managing a geographically dispersed team.

– Experience managing team budgets and forecasts for IT financials.

– Ability to coordinate & lead activities across departments or regions. Leadership and influence with regional and global teams.

– Consultative skills that help create value for the internal customers.

– Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Management or related field.

– MS Office Suite experience required, with advanced skills in Excel.

– Strong proactive problem solving, decision-making, analytical skills with limited supervision.

– Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication skills with all levels of management and staff.

– Team Player with the ability to interact with multiple departments.

– Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Requirements:

– Background working with MS SQL Server, or Informatica MDM tools a plus.

– Insurance industry experiences a plus.

– Participation in Master Data Forums a plus.

– Data Integration Hub experience is a plus.
