Summary

The Director of Network Operations position will be based in Florida, Indianapolis or Parsippany, New Jersey.

Primary Function:
The Manager of Network Operations will be responsible for directing a team of Network Engineers in direct support of one or more business units within Wyndham Worldwide. The Network Operations team provides 24 hour a day, 7 day a week support for Wyndham’s Enterprise network. The team is responsible for problem analysis and resolution, network related change request and project implementation. The Manager of Network Operations is the resource manager for the engineers on his/her team and is responsible for resource balancing between project requirements, on-call activities and other support duties.

The Manager will be expected to manage relationships with other IT Managers and Project Managers to drive issue resolution and business initiatives as they relate to Network services. Other managed relationships include network service vendors, circuit vendors, Business Unit SLT, Incident/service management team and CSIT senior management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Provides leadership, training, mentoring, coaching, and direction to our network operations team.

From a leadership perspective:

Implements, updates, maintains, manages, monitors, and supports the Company’s data network infrastructure throughout the global shared services environment, both operationally and in support of key initiatives and projects.

Manage relationship with outsourced Network Operations Center (NOC) staff who provides Level 1 network support.

Work with the assigned business customers and senior network engineers to implement network infrastructure solutions and strategies to satisfy customer requirements, all while ensuring adherence to formal processes, standards, and policies.

Ensure adequately trained and equipped network engineers are scheduled and available to respond to incidents 24 by 7.

Be accessible as an escalation point for operational support issues 24×7 to support the overall data network .

Work closely with peers, direct staff, various IT Architects, analysts, Business Unit IT peers, outside vendors, partners, and other resources to evaluate, develop, and propose innovative new technologies, methodologies, processes, and other improvements aimed at improving the effectiveness of network operations.

Partner with the Network Engineering to ensure projects have appropriate operational and serviceability requirements.

Ensure the proper maintenance of SOPs and best practices within the Network Operations team.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Computer Sciences, or equivalent prior work experience in a related field. Relevant industry certifications preferred include: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE Routing and Switching.

10+ years network operations experience.

Experience directly managing technical staff of diverse backgrounds and skillset.

Experience in the troubleshooting of data network environments, including LAN and WAN.

Technical experience supporting enterprise networks composed of Cisco routers , Cisco switches, dynamic routing protocols, and switching technologies.

Technical experience supporting application load balancer appliances.

Working knowledge of OSI networking model

Working knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, VPN, Internet, ATM, Frame Relay, F5 Load Balancers, Cisco Nexus, NetFlow, NBAR

Preferred Requirements:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility to work long hours under pressure during system outages and major implementations

Strong aptitude and desire to learn, and expand skill set to new technologies related to networking services.

Aptitude to learn through research and hands-on experience.

Ability to adapt to changing technology environments and requirements.

Other preferred knowledge includes Packet Over Sonet, Wireless Networking, IP Telephony, QoS, Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimizers, AVC, ActionPacked, SolarWinds.
