Job Description

Energetic Junior Project Manager who is experienced in working with the government contracts to perform a variety of management, program management and assurance processes. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods of assurance management, project management and tracking of key deliverables.

You will oversee projects, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarize progress.  You will work to build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors and other departments and stakeholders involved in the projects.  You will contribute to reports for upper management and answer questions they have. Will partner closely with HP’s Federal Security, public sector legal, procurement and other organizations in the ongoing management of key assurance processes and select escalations as needed to drive closure on key deliverables.  This role is located at the Herndon, VA location.

 

Role Description:

  • Helps design and implement U.S. Public Sector compliance imperatives including the analysis and quantification of risks, development of qualified solution proposals to senior management, design and management of project plans, and related critical stakeholder management and communication.
  • Supports critical U.S. PS compliance project/program implementations across multiple businesses, functions, and geographies to implement new policies, procedures, controls or mitigations.
  • Supports various activities including training, communications, supplier certification program, supplier audit program, delicate supplier escalations, internal stakeholders and various other key activities as part of one critical over-arching program for HP.
  • Performs assurance monitoring of risk controls to validate they are being executed and producing the desired results.
  • Ensures careful attention to HP’s legal, ethical and business conduct policies in all work performed.
  • Provides flexible, results-oriented behaviors to get things done quickly and effectively.
  • Supports the design, development, and implementation of strategies and tactics focused on driving and inspecting compliance with U.S. PS regulations and principles.
  • Analyzes pros and cons of various compliance approaches against cost – all compliance processes will require documentation of the process and the tools used to ensure compliance.
  • Performs a variety of complex administrative and analytical tasks in support of one or more contract programs.
  • Prepares regular management reports, data analyses, situational analyses, solution proposals, and project plans.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications/Key Capabilities Desired:

 

  • At least 2 years of experience in project management or related work experience
  • Must meet U.S. Government requirements for access to classified information and maintain that access while employed
  • Experience in a position that involved the handling of U.S. Government classified information
  • Familiarity with basic tenants of government contracts relationships among primes and sub contractors
  • Familiarity with government acquisition process
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Fast learner able to quickly absorb key federal security principles and integrate into day to day vernacular
  • Exceptional writing  and communication skills, subject to testing
  • Data mining and extraction techniques (e.g. Excel, ACL, etc.).
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of proficiency in use of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and reporting/analysis skills, presentation design & delivery skills
  • Results-oriented/driver; Self-starter, independent
