Job Description
Overview:
The Technical Infrastructure Engineer I at St. Charles Health System (SCHS) researches, designs, develops operates and maintains Infrastructure services for existing and new business applications and/or information systems solutions through integration of technical and business requirements per standard SCHC IT process methodology (such as ITIL and ITSM). Includes identification, development, and prioritization of Infrastructure services according to business criticality. Applications and information systems solutions include both 3rd party software and internally developed, applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis of business requirements, configuration of 3rd party software implementation of infrastructure solutions, creation of documentation, testing and maintenance of applications, and support and maintenance of infrastructure and information systems. Works within the Information Technology function, obtaining resources and working in support of objectives and strategies. Typical customers are SCHS end users and various functional areas such as Caregiver/Patient Care, Marketing, Finance, Other Business Partners( ex. The Center, Harney County). This position does not directly manage any other Caregivers.

Responsibilities:
(May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned)

  • Applies basic foundation of a function’s principles, theories and concepts to assignments of limited scope.
  • Utilizes professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education or previous experience.
  • Exercises independent judgment within defined parameters.
  • Develops expertise and practical knowledge of applications within business environment.
  • Acts as team member by providing information, analysis and recommendations in support of team efforts.
  • Participates as a member of an IT technical team.
  • Performs basic analysis of functional or service requirements.
  • Implements end-user or enterprise infrastructure or services as prepared by more senior engineers.
  • Provides end user and routine or basic support of enterprise platforms and services.
  • Monitors the environment and resolves issues utilizing available knowledge reference documentation.
  • Monitors production schedules and ensures production jobs complete successfully without issues.
  • Ensures complete and timely hand-off of incidents to other support teams as appropriate.
  • Assists with enterprise-wide system maintenance and change implementation.
  • Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the health system’s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violations of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all company investigations and proceedings.
  • Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate.


Qualifications:
Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or other technology discipline, or a combination of education and experience that will enable performance of the full scope of the position.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Industry certification in specific discipline (MCSE, CCNE, CCE. MCDBA or MCPD) or working toward such certification required. Valid Oregon driver’s license and ability to meet SCHS driving requirements. Ability to travel to business functions/trainings/meetings and all SCHS worksites required

Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Experience: 2 years of progressively responsible roles supporting systems in a medium-scale, multi-user, multi-application, multi-server Enterprise environment required. Healthcare experience recommended. Understanding and working knowledge of business IT applications (e.g. EMR, EHR, HR, finance). Understanding and working knowledge of infrastructure environments (e.g. operating system, security, network, voice, end user and server related applications).

General Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of infrastructure environments (e.g. operating system, security, network, voice, end user and server related applications).
  • Experience with monitoring and reacting to system events and end user / business requests.
  • Knowledge and experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) reference model.
  • Strong initiative, problem solving, priority setting, and collaboration skills.
  • Basic organizational and analytical skills.


Storage/Server/Virtualization

  • Build, install and configure VMware ESX Server Clusters for our Virtual and Physical systems to support the 800+ Applications in multiple Data Centers( Includes DR considerations)
  • Administration of VMware vSphere client, vCenter Server, VMware Configuration Manager and VMware Operations Manager.
  • Virtual Networking (Distributed Virtual Switches, VM Kernel Ports) and TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and LDAP
  • Customizing guest operating system on Virtual Machines.
  • System Administration-Managing Users, Groups, Roles and Access Permissions.
  • Managing Tasks, Events and Alarms, Managing Application stack runs on VMWare, Windows /IIS Webservers, Linux/Unix.
  • Install, configure and manage Microsoft server operating systems including server 2003, 2008 and 2012.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Active Directory and group policies.
  • Use of security best practice to secure Microsoft, Linux and storage systems in compliance with company standards.

  • Basic Exchange Administration and database management

  • Thorough Understanding of Group Policy Objects
  • Understanding of AD Replication Topologies, Sites and Services and how these play into Exchange routing and / CAS selection


Citrix

  • Implementation, management of Netscaler Loadbalancing
  • Sound knowledge of developing and maintaining XenApp, XenDesktop
  • User Profile Services
  • Managing networking protocols
