About the AgencyThis position is located in the Division of Information Technology, ISB, Client Services Section, Dallas Client Services, Dallas, TX of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides technical and analytical support to IT asset management and logistics management programs within the Region and Field Offices of the FDIC.

The candidate selected will be offered a term appointment not-to-exceed 2 years, which may be extended to a maximum of four years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rate for Dallas, TX area is 16.11%. For more on FDIC locality rates, click here.

DUTIES: Back to top The incumbent provides day-to-day IT support as a senior level IT specialist. This support can take the form of performing the following duties:

  • Serves as a focal point and coordinating interface with the client Divisions of the Corporation in the Regional Office or Area Office on all DIT IT and telecommunications services as well as the implementation of major IT improvement programs, renovations, and service implementations within the Regional Office.
  • Supports and implements the hardware, software, and services of all IT systems within the Regional Office or Area Office. Prepares and coordinates operational specifications and procedures for the implementation of IT improvements, renovations, and service implementations at the Regional Office or Area Office.
  • Monitors the operation and functions of the local area network within the Regional Office or Area Office, and integration of such networks.
  • Analyze the clients’ business operations and identify or respond to problems directed to her/him. Assist clients in defining systems and/or business applications requirements. Formulate IT solutions to satisfy this requirement which may take the form of advising in the use of existing equipment and software, proposing solutions which would suggest new development, or suggesting alternative solutions, which may entail implementing creative alternatives.
  • Advise clients in dealing with other IT professionals and in some cases serve as the client surrogate.
  • Assist clients in the use of new automated tools which have been directed to them.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the client in applying new IT tools and implementing new automated processes.
  • Advise clients in the formation of automated budget requirements.
  • Serve as a professional consultant on IT matters in which clients are involved.

Ensure provision of client assistance for the resolution of routine problems to include:

  • Take ownership of client requests for help and resolve, optimally, at first contact or, when needed, at subsequent contact(s).
  • Determine when the problem is beyond the incumbent’s domain, and coordinate with appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Communicate to clients the resolution and/or the status of progress toward resolution.
  • Populate and maintain an automated call tracking system with client request data.
  • Produce client assistance performance reports from the automated call tracking system.
  • Providing clients with information concerning the DIT current standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination of office business matters between the Regional Office and DIT Headquarters Project Managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top In order to qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 12 level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is hands-on experience in all areas of troubleshooting and resolving issues with Microsoft Software including Windows 7 and MS Office 2010; remote access capabilities; repairing laptops, desktops, and printers; imaging of work stations; and wireless networking consisting of configuring and trouble shooting work stations to connect to wireless networks.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.

High Risk Position – Background Investigation (BI) required.

1. Skill in applying IT principles, resources, and tools and their application to resolve business problems.

2. Ability to apply IT principles, resources, and tools effectively and efficiently across all phases of the systems development life cycle including the instruction of client personnel to use the implemented solution.

3. Ability to function as a knowledgeable IT professional and apply knowledge of client business functions and Information Technology know-how to identify business solutions.

4. Ability to develop, analyze, advise on methods and procedures, and determine potential uses of automation to accomplish work procedures.

5. Knowledge of comprehensive computer environment, on-line systems, databases and, as appropriate, financial, personnel, and banking related systems.
