Position Information:
UC Riverside’s International Student Resource Center (ISRC) is currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic International Student Advisor to join its team. This is a NEW position which will support the success and wellness of incoming and enrolled international students, alumni and dependents at one of the most diverse universities in the nation. Along with the dedicated professionals on our advising and programming team you will be responsible for designing and delivering professional intercultural and support programs that facilitate the educational, professional, and personal success of both international and domestic students at UCR. You will fine tune your presentation, project management, and advocacy skills by contributing to campus outreach and training, and by working collaboratively with on and off campus partners to improve and maximize support services for international students. You will also serve as a campus Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), providing expert immigration services and regulatory advising to international students. This is an exciting time at UCR and in the International Student Resource Center. Minimum Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident as required by federal regulations for those who serve as a Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Officer.
2. Bachelor’s degree in international relations, intercultural communications, and/or equivalent education and experience in a related field.
3. Experience working with international students in a college/university setting and demonstrated knowledge of their adjustment and support needs.
4. Experience developing, facilitating and evaluating support programs for college students.
5. Knowledge of SEVIS reporting requirements, as well as federal laws and regulations pertaining to international students in F-1 and J-1 status. Demonstrated ability to research, comprehend, analyze and apply complex immigration regulations.
6. Experience in counseling and guidance techniques; advising students to help them resolve multi-faceted issues (e.g. cultural, social, health, academic) and making appropriate and sensitive referrals.
7. Excellent written, verbal, presentation and intercultural communication skills and the ability to interact professionally, effectively and sensitively with on and off campus clients and partners.
8. Experience organizing and prioritizing competing tasks, completing assignments with accuracy, and meeting deadlines.
9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
10. Demonstrated familiarity and comfort using the technology necessary to satisfactorily perform the duties of an international student advisor and student affairs professional.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Significant experience advising and developing support programs for international students at a research university.
2. Previous experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
3. Experience developing and facilitating intercultural training and/or first year orientation programs.
4. Masters degree in student services, intercultural relations, or other relevant field.
5. Knowledge of UC policies and procedures.
6. Ability to speak a language other than English.
7. Completion of NAFSA F-1 and J-1 foundation workshops.
8. Experience with Ellucian’s International Student and Scholar Management system and Banner.
9. Experience living, studying, and/or working abroad.
