Job Description

Knowledge of current principles and practices of effective supervision.

Knowledge of modern principles and practices used in building maintenance.

Knowledge of computer interfaces used in building and major capital equipment operations.

Knowledge of plant safety programs and practices.

Knowledge of professional engineering work standards, means and methods within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) and general building trades. (i.e., carpentry, painting, etc.)

Ability to maintain records.

Ability to use computer.

Ability to move parts and/or equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time.

Ability to climb ladders.

Ability to perform installation and repair work in small, confined spaces at various elevations.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contracted vendors and the general public.

Engineer will be responsible for daily maintenance and repair of facility. Position requires knowledge and operation of all HVAC/R systems, electrical, plumbing, telephone, POS systems and building systems. The engineer must have excellent communication skills and be organized. Engineer must be able to communicate with all levels of management. Engineer must be able to create a work list and prioritize work and projects with minimal supervision, be a self starter and take ownership of the facility. Engineer must dependable and flexible with work schedule. Position will report directly to store Operations Manager. Engineer must be safety conscience and be able to recognize safety issues. Position requires bending, lifting, climbing and working in difficult areas. Engineer will oversee work by outside contractors.

Trains all affected store associates in safe operation of electrical, mechanical and blood born pathogens protection per OSHA regulations.

Maintains and ensures compliance with Federal EPA mandated refrigerant inventory, usage and disposal records.

Key member of the Emergency Response Team

Reviews energy reports, develops and implements innovative energy saving strategies.

Implements inspection programs and maintains records for vertical transportation and fire life/safety maintenance and regulatory inspections.

Maintains and updates property drawings, associated documentation, and historical engineering and maintenance records.

Performs maintenance and repair duties on building equipment and systems.

Prepares project and equipment replacement cost estimates.

Utilizes various computer programs and/or networks connected to local controllers for temperature and alarm monitoring, remote Lighting control, Point of sales stations, accounting system and associate network computers.

Graduation from high school

Completion of training programs in building trades through technical schools, college, or equivalent.
