Campus Security Officer/Shuttle Driver – Public Safety-14000428

Public Safety supports the university community by providing various services and programs that contribute to maintaining campuses that are reasonably safe and secure.

Under the supervision of Police Operations the Campus Security Officer/Shuttle Driver position responsibilities will be to drive a vehicle providing a safe ride from one point to another to members of our community, maintain security by providing appropriate screening of those who enter the building, conducting security patrols and acting as a liaison between Tufts Public Safety and Administrative personnel. Additionally the Campus Security Officer / Shuttle Driver will be required to perform other duties assigned in support of the goals and responsibilities of the Department of Public Safety. There may be times of mandatory overtime. Must have flexibility in scheduling. Must receive, upon hire or promotion as well as annually, training on the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Process and its requirements, Ethics Training, Harassment and the Department’s mission, values and goals.

Basic Requirements:

•High School diploma/GED
•None to one (0-1) year of experience
•Valid U.S. driver’s license
•Upon completion of training, the CSO/Shuttle Driver must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the departmental network, the ability to demonstrate appropriate response to fire and intrusion alarm systems, the ability to utilize radio and communications systems
•Demonstration of strength in oral and written communications is imperative
•This position also requires a dependable, mature individual who demonstrates good judgment, good time management skills as well as the ability to appropriately interface with a diverse community displaying flexibility in certain situations
•Must receive, upon hire, training on the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Process and its requirements, Ethics Training, Harassment and the Department’s mission, values and goals
• Successful completion of CPR training is also mandatory
•Must successfully complete all appropriate background checks as required

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in CPR is highly desirable. One to three (1-3) years of experience are preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week. There may be times of mandatory overtime. Must have flexibility in scheduling.
