The Department of Geography and Anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2015. Candidates specializing in physical geography, with a focus on geomorphology, hydrology, or environmental hazards, and strong geospatial technology skills are especially encouraged to apply. Regional area of focus in Latin America is preferred.
The Position: The faculty member will teach undergraduate classes in physical geography, GIS, environmental hazards, and area of specialization. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the department, university, and community. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in involving undergraduates in research or field activity, an ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment, and enthusiasm for a hands-on, learn-by-doing approach to education. Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
