Thanks for commenting. I just want to respond that there are many types and levels of job boards. One example, and one good way to go, is a collaborative job board where one can join with other groups and associations to host a shared job board ( just as the giant job boards have many sites under them). Using a collaborative job board, the platform may well get over 100,000 users per month, although the individual job boards get less. You’re right that you have to have traffic and jobs posted to have a successful job board, but there’s more than one way to arrive at that goal. It takes time to build up your employer and job seeker list but Careers.Advancingwomen.com does get good traffic and is profitable so that’s living proof it can be done.

Starting a job board is a waste of time. Employers are abandoning the pay to post model in droves. Both employers and job seekers also know classified/keyword search technology really sucks. So unless you have a few million to build a unique platform and can afford to spend a few million getting hundreds of thousands of users into the platform…dont waste your time.
