I appreciate articles like these helping people out in a recession. Although, I would like to set the record straight that a Dental Hygiene Degree does take longer than a year EVEN with having some college credits under your belt. There are specific college prerequisites for you to apply and be accepted into the program, which is about the equivalent of a year’s worth of college credits about 29 credit hours MINIMUM. Once in the program you take at least another one and a half to two years about 47 credit hours MINIMUM. After you graduate you need to take a state and maybe even regional testing, which can add at least another two months for the test and to hear back before you can practice. I retrieved this credit hour information from a local community college, which said the Total minimum credit hours their graduates have is 76. My college that I graduated from had a minimum of 90 credit hours. That was three and a half years worth from start to finish, no breaks in between!

Like I said, I want readers to fully understand requirements before they have their hopes up and spend a lot of money in a recession to only be disappointed that it was not a one year program even after some college.
