Stock Market Making You Nervous?

Smoothe Your Ride With the "Dramamine" of T-Bills

If you're a woman who's worked hard for her money......and which of us hasn't?.....we know you don't want to see it evaporate in a dicey market. Fortunately, there's a strategy which will allow you to enjoy the fruits of the markets growth, while smoothing out a bumpy ride which may come ahead in a classic market correction. Here's how: According to a study by Neuberger&Berman, LLC, investment manager, you can capture most of the stock market's returns but cut the volatility and risk by offsetting your stock investments with more stable short-term government debt. In fact, their study shows a 50/50 mix of the S&P 500 and 30-day T-bills provides 79% of the equity market return with only half the volatility. A 60/40 equity/debt allocation provides 84% of the return with 60% of the volatility. Heidi Steiger, Neuberger&Berman Principal and Managing Director of the firm's Individual Asset Management Division says "Recently we've seen a return to more volatility. If investors are uncomfortable, they can smooth their ride through the Dramamine of government debt."
