Entrepreneurial Couples -Working with Your Spouse in a Home Based Business

Home Based Business basically is any trade, industry or commerce which is established primarily at home. The business may have various branches, but it is a home-based business as long as the headquarters is based at the home of the owner/founder/proprietor.

It has been a popular trend nowadays since most of transactions are now possible through the advent of modern communications technology. However, there are also traditional businesses, (which do not necessarily rely on technology) that are also being founded just at the home of the owners. Examples are trucking and delivery, small food (baking, cooking, catering) businesses, and even hand crafts businesses.

These home-run businesses extend their services through phone (telephone, mobile phone, etc.) and travel. Like in a small food business, wherein customers can place orders through the phone numbers being presented in advertisements and then the business owner provides their orders ready to pick up or even delivered.

At this point, the Internet has become the hive of home-based business. It is through the Internet that people advertise and sell and buy and do a lot of things. And, with the computer as the main gadget for all these activities, there is no better place than to be sitting at your own desk, at your own home and doing everything at your own pace.

Even businesses outside of basic trading are being housed at the privacy of the owner’s home. Small clinics, consultancy offices, travel agencies, even law offices are often saved a little space or room in the house or the premises thereof for transactions.

Home-based business can be the ideal business type for most people but it is not, however, applicable to just anyone especially to those who are renting. There are many landlords and landladies who are not very much in favor of businesses being run in their residential buildings. While some places – cities, areas, states, have quite a few rule governing home-based business.

Issues regarding home-based business crop up when a flood of customers are going to find the parking area a little cramped or when the business owner sees more of the monitor than the family.
