As the VP of Mobile and Web Technology you are responsible for the development and operational support of the MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo websites and mobile applications. We are seeking an experienced leader with an execution mindset to take on some of our ambitious initiatives in the TV shows, music, movie, news, and events domains.If you have an outstanding track record of building and supporting successful digital consumer products and are excited about the future of media for the web, mobile, and emerging platforms such as social and interactive TV, we want to talk to you!

Responsibilities

Execute product and technology vision as defined collaboratively with SVP of Technology and other senior leadership.

Lead and manage the development teams that build, operate and support the Music Group’s websites and mobile applications.

Lead the day-to-day technical operations of various initiatives, including responsive web, apps and tentpoles events.

Mentor and motivate technical teams and lead recruitment and performance evaluations.

Support live events, such as MTV VMAs and Movie Awards.

Partner with Product Management, Design, Project Management, Production and business stakeholders to plan and manage the group’s product and technology roadmap.

Partner with Project Management to forecast resource needs and project timelines.

Forecast future infrastructure and personnel needs of the group.

Work closely with other internal Viacom technology teams on the development, planning and integration of shared software platforms.

Evaluate vendors and new technologies for integration across sites and apps.

Basic Qualifications

10+ years of experience leading teams of software engineers.

Complete top-to-bottom technical understanding of how non-trivial websites work, from queries to the database up to the HTML, CSS and JavaScript that runs in the user’s browser.

A complete technical understanding of how common internet technologies work (TCP, HTTP, DNS, etc.).

Experience putting mobile-first and responsive-design principles into practice.

Fluency and comfort operating in a Linux environment.

Experience developing and supporting applications in Tomcat or another Java servlet container.

Proven experience managing high-traffic consumer websites.

Comfort and fluency working with relational databases and using SQL.

Additional Qualifications

Process Minded. You have a strong sense of best practices for software development and support. You are comfortable with both traditional development methodologies and agile development.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, whether communicating with engineers or business stakeholders.

Experience working with the Grails web framework.

Experience working with the Java Spring framework.

Experience working with the Groovy scripting language.

Experience working with Hibernate or other ORM software.

Experience with Solr.

Experience working with noSQL databases.

Familiarity with streaming video technologies.

Experience developing applications on iOS or Android.

A creative and solution-oriented mentality!

Motivated to stay on top of the latest trends in technology and software development.

A keen eye for evaluating and sourcing technical talent.
