Job Description
The job scope for this position is limited to a 2-year project

  • Provide technical expertise to operations, purchasing and marketing departments on major cabin reconfiguration projects
  • Serve as a primary point of interface between Hawaiian and interior vendors
  • Prepare, review and approve engineering authorizing documents (TRAX)
  • Evaluate technical attributes of new or modified aircraft, systems, equipment, and material as well as new interior configurations
  • Manage BFE equipage and commissioning issues for new aircraft deliveries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent scientific discipline from an accredited university. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 4 years of aircraft engineering experience in addition to technical education such as A&P license or technician certification.
  • Five years of interiors engineering experience in an airline, at aviation OEM, or at first-tier aircraft interiors supplier.
  • Knowledge of common office applications, especially MS Project, 2D-CAD software, and Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 25, 121, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters. Must be able to confidently and professionally represent Hawaiian Airlines to members of federal authorities and industry
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours, promptly respond after hours, and ability to travel 25% to vendors and provide extended on-site support to MRO providers during modifications
  • Demonstrated history of excellent performance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft systems, particularly interiors, seats, IFE, cabin accessories and applicances
  • Knowledge of FAR Part 25 and Part 121 requirements, familiarity with TSO requirements and FAA aircraft certification processes (ACO/DER)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with Airbus SCN and aircraft configuration/cabin design process
  • Ability to produce basic cost benefit analysis for project business cases
  • Demonstrated familiarity with TRAX maintenance software, particularly engineering module, authoring controls and task cards
