The Commercial Banking business is the little known behemoth of the Capital One portfolio. With the second largest loan portfolio, second largest deposit portfolio and second highest NIAT, Commercial Banking is a vital element to Capital One’s strategy. Despite the size and success of the existing business, the efforts to analyze and optimize the opportunities in this line of business have only just begun.

We are seeking a Senior Business Director/Business Director for our Risk Strategy and Portfolio Monitoring team. This position is on a highly motivated and visible team with reporting responsibilities to The Head of Commercial Credit Administration, Strategy and Analysis, and the Head of Commercial Banking.

Chief responsibilities include:
• Managing a team of associates responsible for creating and measuring performance against strategic objectives and industry dynamics; monitoring portfolio risk trends and partnering with the Business to formulate a path forward.
• Leading Portfolio Analytics:

• Developing and enhancing a set of metrics to monitor portfolio drivers and forward leaning profitability and risk indicators and review trends

• Assessing new product or program opportunities, review strategic fit, economics and risks, establish guardrails around target segment and risk profile partnering with the Line of Business

• Providing input on the creation of C suite and Board of Director presentations to report on Commercial Bank progress or recommend major new investments

• Providing business intent for improvements to Commercial data infrastructure that supports metrics, reporting or analysis agenda

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or military experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10 years of experience in Financial industry, Consulting or other business analysis roles

• Must be able to establish and maintain high level of credibility with all levels of internal and external customers
• Ability to manage up, across, and down in a large organization and win support for change recommendations
• Ability to independently support and lead new business initiatives from idea creation through implementation
• MBA, prior consulting or analytical experience is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Position Notes:

20% to 40% travel throughout footprint (NY, VA, DC area, LA, TX) depending on base location
