Job Description

MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER

Uses Winovation, APQP and Six Sigma methodologies to ensure quality, cost effectiveness, and reliability of materials, manufacturing processes and products.  Determines the methods and sequences of manufacturing operations for moderately complex products and machine parts and assemblies, ensures that products and processes meet customer quality requirements.

Does Not Have Direct Reports.

Must have ability to deal with people at a cross-functional level.  Position requires ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form in order to present information and respond to inquiries from employees, customers, and suppliers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates moderately complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, tooling and materials, conferring with suppliers and soliciting observations from operator/production technicians.

Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement, APQP and six sigma methodologies.

Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities.  Determines root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment).

Teams with Operations department to design or redesign production areas to enhance production flow and product quality.

Enhances professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars, reviewing professional publications, and benchmarking state of the art practices.

Supports the Supply Chain organization in leveraging suppliers as strategic partners by coaching and teaming to resolve quality issues.

Teams with Sales and Marketing team to resolve customer supplier concerns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4 year college degree, BSME, BSEE or related engineering.

3 – 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
