Join the Comcast engineering team in a fast paced engineering role where you will be responsible for building, managing, operating, and continuously improving Systems, Storage, Database, and/or Tools Infrastructure that supports Comcast’s customer facing applications, back office, and provisioning infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. We need your experience with architecting, building, deploying, and stabilizing code, systems, and tools. You will be charged with acting as the subject matter expert, resolving break/fix scenarios, working with broader teams and partnering/leading vendors and regions to achieve continuous improvement.Can you?

  • Quickly develop solutions for difficult-to-complex systems engineering problems, with limited documentation?
  • Create systems engineering documentation which can be used to build and maintain systems?
  • Analyze log files for errors and take necessary corrective action?
  • Troubleshoot large scale complex operating system and application issues including performance tuning of servers, patch management, application of security policies?
  • Create scripts used to automate system and application functions?
  • Install and configure applications on severs?
  • Correlate application-layer metrics and network device metrics, such as throughput, response time, congestion, dropped messages, queue depth measurement, and lost data?
  • Collaborate with other teams such as the service desk/NOC to ensure full understanding of the alarms and remediation steps?
  • Lead issue resolution activities that involve complex systems and take the knowledge learned and apply it to current systems, to prevent future occurrences?
  • Use your understanding of how changes will adversely impact the subsystem and all of the products that use that subsystem to make necessary corrections/adjustments?

We are looking for someone with 5-7 years of experience that includes the following:

  • Proficient with at least two of Linux, Windows Server, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX.
  • Proficient with (Web Servers, J2EE, Applications Servers, Apache/Tomcat or BEA Weblogic
  • Prior experience with monitoring trouble shooting of applications and systems
  • Experience setting up logical volumes and RAID sets
  • Scripting and development experience including 1-2 modern languages and the ability to create small-to-medium sized scripts (based on clear requirements and existing architecture/design) to automate common system/application functions
  • Understanding of basic layer-4/7 switch functionality
  • Knowledge of networking and TCP/IP filtering to facilitate firewall and ACL requests.
  • Implementing, maintaining/ troubleshooting (and scaling) large systems
  • Client SSL certificates (and their uses)

Desired EducationEducation Level: -Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science
