GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, performs highly responsible supervisory and administrative work in directing the Management and Finance Office of the Department of Public Works. Work involves the efficient administration of all the financial and management matters of the department including fiscal control of the budget and all matters associated with payroll and accounting; as well as, managing the department’s centralized warehouse and enterprise businesses (e.g. Parking Garage); financial stewardship of City-Parish funds; and representation of the department in a variety of public forums (e.g. Metro Council meetings). Supervision is exercised over a large staff of technical, clerical, skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled personnel through subordinate supervisors. Work requires exceptional teamwork and the use of independent judgment within established policy guidelines. Performs other work as requested.
