Advancing Women in Leadership Journal, the first on-line professional, refereed journal for women in leadership is our professional career advancement and leadership research publication. It is edited by Dr. Dana Christman and Dr. Djanna Hill. The Editors invite authors from all professional fields to submit manuscripts which through their analysis and synthesis challenge traditional thinking and examine outcomes of strategies for women to advance and succeed in their careers. Carla A. Salinas, Educational Director, is past president of American Federation Of Teachers, San Antonio, an educator who has conducted educational workshops and employee training. She helped develop and taught the English as a second language program at Chrysler Corp. and General Motors in Saltillo, Coah., Mexico. Ms. Salinas provides oversight for the educational aspect of Advancing Women. Dr. Dana Christman, Dr. Djanna Hill are editors of the Advancing Women in Leadership Journal, our ground breaking professional,career advancement and leadership research publication, the first online journal to deal with women's career issue. About the Editors: Dana Christman is an Associate Professor and Academic Department Head in the Department of Educational Management and Development at New Mexico State University (NMSU) in the United States. She has worked at NMSU for more than nine years, having held an assistant professor position at Northwest Missouri State University and having worked with the Statewide Regional Doctoral Cohort Program through the University of Missouri. Dr. Christman also served for 14 years in Student Affairs in higher education. She has served as the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Education and taught at Nanjing Normal University in the Peopleâs Republic of China as part of a Fulbright grant. Her research interests include multiple aspects of educational administration and leadership, including gender, social justice, American Indian, and comparative education issues, as well as processes of educational change in K-12 and higher education. Her scholarship can be found in journals, such as Advancing Women in Leadership, Educational Administration Quarterly, Journal of Research on Leadership Education, Journal of American Indian Education, Journal of Women in Education, Education and Urban Society, Education and Law Journal, among others. Djanna Hill is a Professor of Education at William Paterson University of New Jersey. Dr. Hill has over 20 years of experience teaching and preparing educators for K-12 classrooms. She currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses such as educational foundations, research methods, and science methods. Dr. Hillâs academic degrees are from Howard University and Columbia University. She is serving her sixth year as director of Paterson Teachers for Tomorrow, a home grown urban teacher preparation grant program. Dr. Hill is also a recent Fulbright recipient. She serves on the executive boards of the Gandhian Forum for Peace and Justice and the American Council of Education (Womenâs) Network at the University. Professor Hill conducts annual research presentations at major international conferences and publishes her work in books and journals such as the Journal of Negro Education, Qualitative Inquiry, and Multicultural Perspectives. Dr. Hillâs academic research is inspired by a desire to expand the notion of leadership and womanist theory, prepare teachers for urban schools, bridge science and multicultural education, and include arts-informed research methodologies. Dr. Genevieve Brown,Dr. Beverly J. Irby are founding editors of Advancing Women in Leadership Journal. It was their vision to create the first online journal to deal with women's career issues. It has been their keen editorial skills, hard work, collaboration with and mentoring of many authors throughout the United States and globally which has inspired, sustained and continues to infuse the spirit and high standards of the journal.
